I would use these Kickstarter funds to upgrade my machines and tools so I could make these wine racks more efficiently.
My twenty year old Craftsman Lathe is getting fairly scary with its vibrations and unreliability. I long to have a modern lathe that runs smooth, has variable speeds and has a live-center tailstock.
Another piece of equipment I would like to upgrade is the router table with an appropriate router or motor. These spin at very high speeds and I would like to have one with guards and other protective equipment. I currently have a plunge router upside down in a very small table, difficult to adjust and unsteady with such a small surface area.
I would also like to upgrade to modern lathe chisels and a fresh set of router bits (mine have been resharpened to nearly out of tolerance).
A true Mortising machine would make life so much easier! Each interior gets eight mortices and each shelf gets four. I currently do these with a drill followed by chisels.
Any left over could help towards upgrading my 'toy' sized bench bandsaw and drill press.
Thanks so much for your consideration!
My old and clunky wood lathe.
My 'toy' bandsaw. Barely big enough to cut the arches. Not big enough to cut them smoothly.
My small router table. I have added braces and shims to try to get it to stay straight. It doesn't have a large table area and these wood pieces hang over dangerously.
My 'toy' drill press. Not big enough to drill the arches without the constant risk of breaking them. Help to replace these with some real machines so I can start turning these cabinets and racks out for you.
